Class of IV administration program

This Intravenous administration (IV) program focuses upon the practice of IV fluid administration and IV fluid therapy management in a typical Canadian Health care setup including Hospitals, Nursing homes and acute and chronic healthcare. While recognizing the fact that in a Canadian Healthcare System, Nurses and other regulated HCP (Health care Professionals) may have intravenous (IV) insertion and therapy included in their scope of practice, in this program through the completion of realistic, case-based lessons, practical and interactive assessment exercises, participants will learn details and diverse aspects of IV administration. Health care professionals provided with specialized training in IV administration therapy and supportive organizational structures and processes may help in improved client outcomes and decreased complications.

The significance of accuracy in selecting appropriate cannula for prescribed therapy and identifying equipment used for the delivery of intravenous therapy, including IV tubing and electronic infusion pump or flow control device are discussed.
