ECG/ EKG (ELECTROCARDIOGRAM) 

Certificate Program

Course Objectives:

  • To understand the technical components of Electrocardiography

  • To understand application and use of ECG Equipment and supplies in the medical field

  • To have the knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the EKG technician and how it relates to patient care.

  • To demonstrate understanding of normal electrophysiology of the cardiac system

  • To recognize normal waveforms in the electrical conduction of the cardiac system

  • To identify common variations in the electrical conduction of cardiac system

  • To distinguish deadly heart rhythms in the electrical conduction of the cardiac system

  • To demonstrate understanding and differences of 3, 5 and 12 lead cardiac monitoring devices and various electrode attachments

 

Course Prerequisite:

  • Nursing or Medical background

  • Degree or Diploma in a medical discipline OR a minimum of 1 year experience in a medical setting

  • Student undergoing Diploma program in medical and healthcare

  • English Proficiency

Duration- 1 Day - Refresher Course

2 -3  Days - Comprehensive Program

Schedule- Week days/ Weekends/Evenings

  • Patient preparation, related legal and ethical issues

  • Performing 1 / 3 / 5 / 12-lead ECG

  • Identification and measures to fix common artifacts

  • Mounting and Basic interpretation

  • Taking ECG reading with different ECG Machines

A NOTE TO OUR STUDENTS ON COVID-19:

We are closely monitoring the developments related with the COVID-19 pandemic. As COVID-19 continues to spread, there's nothing more important to us than the well-being of our students, staff and community.

Considering the current situation, we are offering our students following option:

ONLINE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM: Students can opt for online Certificate program option. Our EKG/ECG certificate- Online program is a form of instructor-led study program for those who cannot attend on-campus classes on a regular basis. The study material will be provided to students online by the Instructor, which one will have access for 2 weeks period. There will be an Online Evaluation Test at the end of the Program for gradation. The certificate will be provided at the completion of program. The student will have the option of attending Practical session on 90 minutes (with 1 on 1 practice) on any future convenient date in next 4 months or whenever the Coronavirus related situation improves.
