ECG/ EKG (ELECTROCARDIOGRAM)  CertificateTraining Program

Course Objectives:

  • To understand the technical components of Electrocardiography

  • To understand application and use of ECG Equipment and supplies in the medical field

  • To have the knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the EKG technician and how it relates to patient care.

  • To demonstrate understanding of normal electrophysiology of the cardiac system

  • To recognize normal waveforms in the electrical conduction of the cardiac system

  • To identify common variations in the electrical conduction of cardiac system

  • To distinguish deadly heart rhythms in the electrical conduction of the cardiac system

  • To demonstrate understanding and differences of 3, 5 and12 lead cardiac monitoring devices

 

Course Prerequisite:

  • Degree or Diploma in a medical discipline OR a minimum of 1 year experience in a medical setting

  • Student undergoing Diploma program in medical and healthcare

  • English Proficiency

Duration- 1 Day - Refresher Course

2 Days - Comprehensive Program

Schedule- Week days/ Weekends/Evenings

  • Introduction to Electrocardiography

  • Anatomy and Physiology of Cardiovascular system

  • Cardiovascular system and EKG

  • Electrical Conduction System of the Heart

  • Basic waveform analysis

  • Components of obtaining an accurate EKG reading

  • the Role and responsibilities of person obtaining &/or monitoring EKG

  • ECG Equipment and supplies

  • Patient preparation, related legal and ethical issues

  • Performing 12-lead ECG

  • Identification and measures to fix common artifacts

  • Mounting and Basic interpretation
